Growing in the Garden

Here is what we are growing in the garden this year:

Roma Tomatoes
Banana Bell Peppers
Romaine Lettuce
Alvaro Melon
Bush Baby Squash
Early Butternut Squash
Kentucky Wonder Bean
Marketmore 97 Cucumbers
Merlot Lettuce
Mesa Queen Squash
Neon Pumpkin
Parano Carrots
Precocious Corn
Quickie Corn
Red Ace Beet
Soleil Bean
Sugar Sprint Peas
Two Star Lettuce
Yukon Gold Potatoes
Zamboni Broccoli Raab
Italian Basil
Chives
Cilantro*

As of yesterday (April 18th) we've got the peas, broccoli, lettuce, beets, potatoes and some carrots in. The melons under a cold frame, but are showing no signs of sprouting so we may have to replant (picture to left). Everything else has to wait for the soil to warm up - maybe two more weeks. Bordering the garden are asapragus, rhubarb, blueberries, raspberries, grapes and strawberries.

* Note: Cilantro, which I love in so many dishes, is not allowed in or even near the garden. It spreads like a bad rash and would take over everything. So the cilantro gets a nice big pot all to itself.
